In addition to the long existing and well-known VETUS hatches, models Libero, Planus or Genius, VETUS has in 2009 introduced two other models, for “extra heavy duty” application, named Magnus and Altus. Like all other VETUS hatches, the aluminium profiles are hand-polished prior to being anodized. By virtue thereof, the surface is extremely flush, so that no dirt can accumulate in the polished-out pores. The patented handles of these hatches allow opening and closing from the inside of the boat or from the outside, but a built-in mechanism ensures a fully locked hatch when leaving the boat, even in the ventilation position.
Model Magnus has a rectangular shape, a cover with a 10 mm acrylic pane and it comes in 7 different dimensions. There are no stays or hatch adjusters, but friction hinges instead, which keep the cover opened through 180°, allowing full and uncluttered use of the hatch opening. Model Magnus may be installed in all places of the boat, both horizontally and vertically and it is “ocean- safe” under all conditions. Therefore, this Magnus hatch is the proud bearer of the CE classification A I.
Model Altus is offered in no less than 11 different shapes and sizes, among which round and half-round models. It has a sturdy aluminium profile, which is only 21 mm in height. The Altus hatch does feature two adjusters, which are, however, carefully designed: stylish, easy to operate and never “in the way”. The cover also has a 10 mm acrylic pane and the hatch is equally “ocean-safe”, provided that it is installed horizontally on deck. CE classification A II.
